Mother Daughter Trips To Europe You’ll Never Forget
There’s something uniquely special about traveling with your mom or daughter.
It’s a chance to slow down, reconnect, and create memories that stay with you forever.
Over the years, we’ve experienced some great mother-daughter trips to Europe, each one meaningful in its own way.
From our first getaway in Greece to a dreamy spa experience in Bordeaux, every destination offered something different: culture, relaxation, laughter, and sometimes even a little retail therapy.
In this guide, we share our favorite places, what made them special, and tips you can use to plan your own unforgettable adventure.
1. Madrid
Madrid is one of those cities we always come back to. It has a way of making you feel at home the minute you arrive.
If you’re planning a mother-daughter trip to Europe, we highly recommend including Madrid or anywhere in Spain in your itinerary.
For art lovers, Madrid delivers in a big way.
We love exploring the Golden Triangle of Art, where the Prado, Reina Sofía, and Thyssen-Bornemisza museums sit just steps apart.
Between museum visits, we head to El Retiro Park, grab an ice cream, and watch the world go by from a park bench.
The food scene in Madrid never disappoints. We hop between tapas bars, elegant restaurants, and try something new every time.
In summer, we recommend getting a drink at a rooftop bar where you can enjoy a panoramic view of the city.
For shopping, Salamanca is the place for upscale finds, while Chueca offers vintage boutiques.
And while Gran Vía has everything in one place, be prepared for crowds; go early if you want to shop in peace.
2. Paris
No list of mother-daughter travel ideas would be complete without Paris.
It’s a perfect city for a mother-daughter trip if you love culture, shopping, and long, slow lunches in pretty cafés.
There’s no shortage of iconic things to do: visit the Eiffel Tower, Louvre, or Musée d’Orsay, and explore the charming streets of Le Marais or Montmartre.
Don’t miss an evening Seine river cruise, it’s one of the most beautiful ways to see the city at golden hour.
And if you’re into fashion, Paris offers plenty of opportunities to shop or simply admire street style.
Tip
Skip the touristy cafés and head to a local boulangerie early in the morning for a fresh pain au chocolat, they’re usually still warm from the oven. We love grabbing one and finding a bench in a quiet square or park to enjoy it like a local. Trust us, it tastes better that way.
3. Bordeaux
Our trip to Bordeaux was unlike anything we’d done before.
It was indulgent, peaceful, and oh-so-beautiful.
We stayed at the Les Sources de Caudalie, a luxury spa hotel set within a vineyard, and I honestly can’t think of a more perfect mother-daughter destination.
Bordeaux is known for its vineyards, charming countryside, and spa culture, making it a slower-paced, indulgent escape.
A stay at Les Sources de Caudalie is a must if you’re seeking spa time.
Located in the middle of the vineyards, this luxury retreat offers Vinothérapie® treatments using grapes grown on-site.
Beyond spa indulgence, Bordeaux is also a great place for wine tasting tours, both in the city and the surrounding areas like Saint-Émilion.
The city center itself is great to explore on foot, don’t miss the Place de la Bourse, Miroir d’Eau, and riverside cafes.
You can read more about our stay here in our Caudalie blog post.

4. Milan
Milan surprised us in the best way.
It wasn’t all high fashion and designer shops; instead, it gave us a relaxing and flavorful weekend full of culture, energy, and gelato (lots of it!).
If you’re planning a mother-daughter trip to Europe and want a destination that’s easy to explore in a couple of days, Milan makes a great choice.
We visited the stunning Duomo di Milano, one of the most iconic cathedrals in Europe.
Climbing to the rooftop gave us a breathtaking view of the city and a chance to admire the intricate details up close.
If you’re visiting, definitely book your tickets in advance; it saves time and gets you right to the good part.
One of the highlights of our trip was catching a soccer match at San Siro Stadium.
Even if you’re not a huge soccer/football fan, the atmosphere is electric, and the crowd energy is contagious.
It’s an unexpected way to experience Milan like a local.
Of course, we made it a point to try gelato every day, some days, more than once!
5. Christmas Markets
One trip we love to take is to Christmas markets in Europe.
If you’re thinking about planning a mother-daughter trip during the holidays, do not skip Europe’s Christmas markets.
We’ve done a few, but the ones that stood out most were in Colmar and Strasbourg (France), Cologne (Germany), and Vienna (Austria).
These cities come alive in December with twinkling lights, mulled wine, handmade ornaments, and cozy charm.
In Strasbourg, we wandered through timber-framed streets lit with lanterns.
In Cologne, we sipped glühwein and listened to live music as snow gently fell.
Vienna brought elegance with its market in front of the Schönbrunn Palace.

Tip
Pack layers and arrive early in the evening. Markets are less crowded just as they open, and you’ll want photos before the stalls get too busy.
6. Greece
Greece holds a special place in our hearts.
It was the first of our mother-daughter trips to Europe, and everything about it felt like the beginning of a tradition.
We split our time between Athens and the Greek Islands, balancing history with island beauty.
In Athens, we visited the Acropolis and walked through Plaka’s cobblestone streets.
But the real magic came in Santorini and Mykonos. Santorini offers dramatic cliffs and famous sunsets, while Mykonos brings beach clubs and boutique shopping.
Everything slowed down there, and it brought us closer in a way no phone call or text ever could.
More Than Just a Vacation
Looking back, these trips were more than vacations.
They were bonding moments, new experiences, and chances to simply enjoy each other’s company without distraction.
Whether you’re eating a gelato in Milan or relaxing in a vineyard spa in Bordeaux, the time together is what matters most.
There are so many incredible destinations in Europe that are perfect for mother-daughter travel.
These are our favorites, to date!
