Discover the Allure of the Puerto Rico Symphony Orchestra

Puerto Rico Symphony Orchestra

A great option for spending a special and culturally rich night in Puerto Rico is to attend a performance by the Puerto Rico Symphony.

Since 1958, Puerto Rico has been blessed with a world-class Symphony Orchestra. The Orchestra’s home base is the Pablo Casals Hall, which is part of the Centro de Bellas Artes (CBA) complex in Santurce.

Spending an evening with the Puerto Rico Symphony Orchestra is easily accessible due to its San Juan location. You can arrive at the venue by car, taxi, or Uber.

When visiting the CBA, prioritize arriving early to immerse yourself in the beauty of “Las Musas” sculptures and the fountain in the plaza.

As you step into the Pablo Casals Symphony Hall, you’ll be captivated by the towering glass wall. The lively buzz of people chatting in the lobby adds to the anticipation of the performance ahead.

It is common for a guest group to play in the lobby before the main performance. Guests typically enjoy these guest performances accompanied by a glass of wine or a cup of coffee and snacks.

Spanish Inspired Night

As part of the 2023-2024 season, the Orchestra recently hosted a Spanish-inspired night. They invited classical guitarist Andrea Gonzalez Caballero and Spanish director Jose Maria Moreno to join the Orchestra for the night.

Before the main performance, the University of Puerto Rico’s Rio Piedras campus marching band played a varied repertoire in the lobby.

During the first part of the program, Ms. Gonzalez-Caballero performed a beautiful rendering of Joaquin Rodrigo’s “Fantasia para un gentilhombre”.

In the second part of the program, Mr. Moreno infused the atmosphere with his contagious energy and passion for his country as the Symphony Orchestra performed Spanish Suite #1 composed by Isaac Albeniz.

This Spanish-inspired concert night showcased the Puerto Rico Symphony Orchestra’s quality and diverse repertoire.

After a 2 hour performance by the Puerto Rico Symphony Orchestra, we found ourselves full of energy.
